The standard this site is built to
The Target Systems site is built to Israeli Standard 5568, which adopts the WCAG guidelines at level AA. In practice the site is built against the newer WCAG 2.2 at level AA, which adds the requirements for focus appearance and target size. Accessibility is built into the code of the site itself.
The site carries no floating accessibility widget. Widgets of that kind do not confer conformance, and they often get in the way of screen readers. Every component here is built accessible from the start.
What was done
- Full keyboard operation, in a logical order, with no focus traps, and a skip link to the main content.
- A visible focus indicator on every element you can reach, at the contrast the standard asks for.
- Semantic structure with clear page landmarks, one main heading per page and a heading hierarchy with no gaps.
- Testing with screen readers in Hebrew and in English.
- Colour contrast taken from the paired colours of the design system, including the rule that the brand orange is never used for small text on white.
- Full right to left support in Hebrew, including form fields, phone numbers and email addresses.
- Forms with a visible label on every field, error messages written as text rather than shown by colour alone, and each error tied to its own field.
- Reduced motion for anyone whose operating system asks for it.
- Text resizing to 200 percent and use of the site at a screen width of 320 pixels, with no loss of content.
What is still open

- [[PLACEHOLDER: downloadable documents, confirm every file is accessible or that its content is also available as an HTML page]]
- This statement is waiting for sign off by a qualified accessibility consultant before launch.
